An excerpt from the book Saving Literacy provides an overview of Neuroconstructivist theory. See below. The paper "The Scribble Hypothesis" supports this theory (see below) as does the position paper "A Theory of Marks and Mind." Both "The Peek-a-Boo Principle" and "Thirteen Brain-Based Principles of Child Development" are available in the books Saving Literacy and HandMade Marks, and first appeared in Dr. Sheridan's 1990 doctoral dissertation.
